TV Wrap: SBS scores fourth in weekly share, Bricksmas gifts Nine overall share for Sunday evening

The Lego Masters Bricksmas Special took out entertainment programming for Sunday evening, stacking up a win in overall network share for the Nine, with the episode bringing in 569,000 metro viewers.

Meanwhile, Seven came out ahead of Nine for the week ending 26 November, with a total network share of 27.2%, over Nine’s 24.5%, while ABC finished the week with a 18.3% share and SBS coming in a rare fourth place on 17.3% thanks to the network’s FIFA World Cup broadcast, while Ten had 12.8%.

Saturday nights FIFA World Cup match between Australia and Tunisia brought in an average of 1.34 million metro viewers nationally for SBS, with an additional BVOD audience of 386,000 on SBS OnDemand, helping SBS to take home the top network share for the evening (29.2%), both SBS’ main channel and the network’s highest audience share of 2022.

The program with the biggest uplift was an episode of ABC’s Significant Others with an uplift of 45% and BVOD a total of 459,000 viewers overall, including a BVOD audience of 64,000 nationally.

Looking to Sunday’s overnights, SBS’ broadcast of the 2022 FIFA World Cup match between Japan and Croatia came next in second in entertainment, bringing in 448,000 metro viewers, followed by ABC’s Death In Paradise with 425,000, then Insiders on ABC with 278,000.

In other sports, the Women’s AFL Grand Final match between Brisbane and Melbourne on Seven saw 212,000 metro viewers tune in, while the post match commentary of SBS’ post match coverage of the Japan and Croatia match had an average of 211,000 metro viewers.

Seven News won overall TV programming on Sunday night with 809,000 million metro viewers, followed by Nine News with 723,000 metro viewers, while ABC News brought in 586,000 metro views, and 60 Minutes had 430,000.

As mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 28.8% over Seven’s 23.4%, while SBS had a share of 18.8%, ABC had 15.5% and Ten took an 13.4% share.

Nine also won the primary channel share, and the top-rating multi-channel on Sunday was 7Two with a share of 3.3%.
